There are so many options when it comes to having your own small business that it comes down to what you know, and what you are willing to invest in time and money to get it going. An important thing to do before beginning your venture is to get the Federal Trade Commission’s information package about the rules and regulations that are required to be complied with.
Here are a few small business opportunity ideas:
- Bookkeeping. If you enjoy working with numbers and accounting software, you can offer your services to small businesses that don’t have the time or knowledge to complete the required tasks.
- Food. Are you handy in the kitchen? Have a specific meal or dessert that everyone is always asking for? If you have an artistic flair, baking cakes, cupcakes that are personalized to the customer needs can become quite lucrative if done correctly. Be sure to check to find out if you need a food handler’s license before you venture out on this one. Will you need to attach a label that includes the ingredients used?
- Plant servicing. Do you have the ability to keep plants alive? Consider using that skill to start a plant servicing business. This is similar to pet-sitting businesses. This can be geared to personal needs when customers may be on vacation, away or whatever the need. A goal once you get going could be expanding into the commercial arena. This would include offices that need care done for their plants or need purchasing of low maintenance plants.
- Kids parties. Do you enjoy children? Do you have a feel for what would be exciting for a child if they were at a party? You could purchase all the party supplies for the customer, and drop them off or handle the decorating yourself to ease the customer’s stress.
